Should I be a Member of a Mastermind Group?
Whether you run a business or have a career; the same principles apply. You need to constantly and efficiently market yourself and your services if you are to gain more clients or switch to a higher paying job. In today’s economy with budget being the key word on everyone’s mind, more and more entrepreneurs are relying on networking to do the job for them.
Networking is one of the key reasons listed by successful entrepreneurs, as to why their businesses take off. Effective networking is one of the crucial business skills that an entrepreneur must learn right at the outset of her career. It is an efficient and inexpensive way of meeting key players who could end up being your clients or offering you a job. It’s also an excellent method of gaining support from partners with a similar mindset.
However, many business owners are put off by the term ‘networking’, assuming it to mean an ‘in your face’ approach of making strangers aware of your services. Sales is in fact proven to be a numbers game, yet, many people are hesitant to thrust their business card in the face of a newly made acquaintance. As a result, many formal gatherings turn into lost opportunities, where possible business and new leads are thrown out of the window.
In such a case, joining a small and informal group is an effective way of countering the fear of dealing with a room full of strangers. Our Mastermind Group is limited to 10 women and you can find out more information at www.itisawomansworld.com. This Group is ran by two business partners and friends, the group has grown over the months to offer an array of services suited to every business requirement. You can learn business models, sales and marketing tools, goals and planning cycles and most importantly, motivational tools to help overcome challenges and obstacles. But the best part of it, is that you will be set up with a partner whom you can brainstorm with, develop ideas with and who will inspire you to continue with your learning goals.
To gain the maximum benefit from joining a group such as this, prepare yourself in advance with the following tips:
1. Have a plan: Before you go in to the meeting, jot down some notes on what you most want to learn from it, in order of importance. We will help you create a plan and point you in the right direction for 2009.
2. Practice your communication skills: If you feel something has been left out, don’t hesitate to ask questions. Communicating with the facilitator is important, but it’s equally important to communicate with the group attendees. Most of these women are in a similar situation as yourself- all of them would be willing to share the knowledge they have.
3. Get involved with the group: Make your own suggestions and offer your own opinions. Two way communication is always far better than just receiving information.
4. Make networking a part of you: Keep your business cards or resume on hand and don’t be afraid to hand them out wherever you go.

Top 3 Ways To Accomplish Your Resolutions
Written by Kimberlee Frank and Kristen Reneski.
Have you decided on your New Years Goals? We did in December, and have already begun implementing them and seeing the positive results of my hard work!
That’s right. Most goals do take a lot of hard work and determination to be realized. Dreaming about a thinner waistline and a nicer home is not going to work, unless you put in some time towards achieving them. Yet, according to research, it’s only 15% of all Americans who actually succeed in maintaining their goals till end year! Over the years, and as successful Mentors, We’ve realized that accomplishing your resolutions requires pretty much the same discipline as speaking with a Seller, Buyer, Mitigator or Mortgage Broker in order to buy or sell a house: you need to do your homework, take risks and most of all, believe in yourself. Here are some of the things We’ve learnt about success in meeting my New Years resolutions:
Lesson1: Have a plan.
Making a wish list and pinning it up some place prominent is wonderful. But what you need along with that list is an action plan to help you along the way. Want a waistline once again? Then write down the steps you’re going to take to achieve it- healthy diet, exercise, yoga; whatever suits you and your lifestyle. Schedule down the days and times and some options which allow you to mix things up. Have a back-up plan in case you fall off the bandwagon. Treating a goal like a business is a surefire way to getting it accomplished.
Lesson2: Ask for Help.
It doesn’t matter what your goal is, we could all do with a little help in achieving it. Don’t be afraid to ask for family, friends, a team mate or even Kristen and my advice if you need it. That is why It IS a Woman’s World.com exists is to empower women and to improve the world one woman at a time. Most people will in fact be honored that you asked them.
Lesson3: Believe in yourself.
You can do it. Even if you’ve tried and failed before, this is the year for you to succeed. Just believe in yourself no matter what; don’t let setbacks throw you off track and if you do stop, then hop back right on whenever you can. It’s NEVER TOO LATE (even if you have to restart in August), TOO MUCH (go for those extra set of sit-ups; your stomach will thank you for it) or TOO HARD. Especially when you see the final results at the end of the year.
Happy New Year and keep those resolutions going! Don’t forget to join us at our gatherings every second Wednesday of the Month at Panera Bread at 436/Maitland, Altamonte Springs, FL.
